Hundreds of people gathered at Restaurant Row Thursday afternoon to take home a piece of Aloha.
Two hundred items from the company's executive offices were auctioned off. Bidders waited for their shot at pieces of furniture, memorabilia and computer equipment. Even the Aloha signs were up for sale.
For some former employees and Aloha Air enthusiasts, the auction was the end of some bittersweet memories.
"I just wanted to take a look around and seeing a lot of the pictures it's very emotional, it just brings back a lot of memories. I have a lot of years behind me here," said former employee, Susan Cappeletto.
"It's very sad for all the employees and all the people involved with Aloha Airlines. It's definitely a part of Hawaii's history," said Ronnie Tongg, son of Aloha Airlines founder Ruddy Tongg.
After 60 years in the Islands, Aloha Airlines flew it's last flight in March after filing for bankruptcy. More than 1,900 employees had to look for new jobs. |
