A grand ceremony was held Sunday morning for the new Hawaii Kai dog park.

The 1.5 acre space is at the corner of Keahole Street and Kalanianaole Highway.

Dog owners who live in the area said they'll be bringing their pets here more often

"It's great, it's something that we needed a long time and it's something new, I like it," said dog owner Warren Hoopii.

"Oh, it's beautiful, very nice setting. You can see the waves breaking, the ocean, a nice breeze. Fun for the dogs, they got plenty of room to run," said dog owner Barbara Wilkins.

Now, this enclosed park allows dogs to run around off their leashes.

This is the third city dog park built on Oahu.
