We've got second quarter results from Mesa Air, the parent company of Go. And it's not too bad. Mesa reports a profit of 9 million, and a pro forma net loss of 4 million. The balance sheet is more complicated than usual because Mesa shut down some regional operations and it settled out-of-court with Hawaiian Airlines for less money than it had set aside. Mesa spent more than a million dollars on legal bills in Hawaii and start-up costs for its new operations in China. But the actual airline operations saw 8% more operating revenue, and some of Mesa's contracts with larger airlines call for those larger airlines to pay the fuel bill.

Sam Choy says the reason he closed his Diamond Head restaurant last night was that expenses were rising and it seemed best to consolidate. The 25 Diamond Head employees are offered jobs at the Nimitz flagship. Gift cards fro m the Diamond Head restaurant are transferable to the main restaurant.

Hawaii's largest chain of medical testing labs has been sold to Australians. Sonic Healthcare of Sydney is paying 121 million for Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, which has 900 employees and, according to the new owner, prospective annual sales of 110 million dollars.

Tesoro, which owns Hawaii's biggest refinery but doesn't own any oil wells, hasn't been able to increase its own prices as fast as the price of the crude oil it buys. Tristone Capital and Deutsche Bank have both lowered profit predictions on Tesoro, sending its stock down.
