The program develops a leadership style grounded in Hawaiian customs that guides one's thoughts, instincts and work. The First Nations' Futures Program started last year as a way to prepare leaders for our communities. He papahana e ho'oulu a ho'omohala i ke 'ano o ke alaka'i, i loko ka no'ono'o, i loko ka na'au, i loko ka hana, a i ka loina Hawai'i no ho'i. The students, or fellows, are selected and sent to different locations for training. Ua a'o makou ma ke kulanui 'o Stanford ma ka po'aiapili kula. A ua a'o pu ma waho, ma ka honua, ma na 'ano wahi like 'ole ma Hawai'o ne a ma Ao'earoa. The fellows then come together to tackle real issues in our communities like tourism, tribal economies and sustainable food systems. The program develops a global network of native leaders facing the same issues. We are fortunate to interact and engage with our cousins from various lands. This program, only in its second year, has allowed young individuals like Dahl and Duarte to learn in a completely new way. 'Ike 'ia ka ulu o keia mau kanaka a pau ma o kela hana. he papahana kukikawa no. For more information on the First Nations' Futures Program visit their website at www.fnfp.org. |
