Calling all canine-lovers, Bark Avenue, Pacific Paws Doggie Resort & Spa and Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic, will host an all about dogs event on Saturday, July 5th at the Marina Courtyard from 11 am - 2pm. The event will be a fundraiser for the Hawaii Dog Foundation, to help reach their goal of "No More Homeless Dogs in Hawaii". Volunteers will bring adoptable dogs to a special "Meet & Greet" area where you can find that perfect pet for your family.

Pooches of all breeds will enjoy a fun-filled day of treats, wag bags, educational displays, fashion shows and more.

Festivities throughout the day will include the following activities:

  • Fashion show featuring clothing from Bark Avenue
  • Pacific Paws Doggie Resort & Spa staff will be stage-side doing discounted doggie nail trims. Also get some cool training tips from puppy trainer, Joe Lopez. A community dog wash will be set up next to their shop (behind the theatres) with FREE water and shampoo. Visit their full-service shop for the best in doggie day care, cage-free boarding, doggie grooming and puppy obedience training. Call them at 394-WOOF or visit www.PacPaws.com.
  • Dr. Yoon and his staff from the Hawaii Kai Veterinary Clinic will provide complimentary wellness exams for any shelter dog adopted during the event. They will also give all visitors to the clinic a 10% discount on flea / heartworm products on 7/5/08.   • The Hawaii Pet Grief Center & HawaiiAshScatterings.com teamed up to support pet owners in handling the loss of a beloved companion. Services include counseling, therapy and private ash scattering services at sea aboard sailing charter vessels. Contact Renee at 282-9045 or Capt. Ken at 227-4956.
  • Model Contest with Hawaii Pet Magazine. Dogs are encouraged to dress in their best summer outfit for their entry photograph to be taken at the event. Ten finalists will be featured and one winner will be chosen as a cover model for a future issue.
  • Tails of Aloha will share information about pet therapy teams that visit hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers, and schools.
  • Raw on Request will provide information about the bones and raw food diet and pass out coupons for samples.
  • Icy Pooch Pops will provide samples of their locally made frozen treats.
  • Allen Martin Photography will share tips on photographing pets.
  • Ruff Child providing tips on planning pet parties.

To support the Hawaii Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on bettering the lives of Hawaii's dogs, you can purchase your "Paws for the Cause" discount card for $10 and receive discounts from participating merchants at Koko Marina Center. The cards can be purchased at the Dog Day Afternoon event on July 5th in the Marina Courtyard, or Bark Avenue and Pacific Paws Doggie Day Care.
