A clothing store in Kailua is offering originial high-quality ocean gear that reflects the true meaning of Aloha. This is 'Oiwi Gear, a clothing store unlike any you've seen before. Owner David Kim sells beach wear that can be worn in and out of the water. The jerseys are SPF 50 and everything they sell is an originial design.

It is great to see clients learn more about us once they get here. It isn't your typical store, the designs and even the people are different. Kim has experience both in graphic design and ethnic Hawaiian studies, which gave him the idea to start a company that sells clothes with messages that stay true to Hawai'i.

The company was founded in 2001 as a t-shirt company, selling merchandise from the back of a truck to canoe regattas. Three years later, this store opened in Kailua and has been catching the eye of locals and tourists alike. Shoping here is a fun experience for kana'aina and milihini as well. But, no matter what happens or who patronizes the store, the goal remains the same.
