Wanted Wednesday: Jesse Kawika Boyd Print E-mail

On April 30, 2005, at almost four in the morning in Kailua, police say 23-year-old Jesse Kawika Boyd is driving down Kailua road, under the influence. Sgt. Kim Buffett of Crimestoppers says, "so he's driving down Kailua and Hoolai Street when he collides into a bicyclist on a Mongoose bike who is riding in the median. So he looks at the bicyclist, looks at him and flees the scene." Police say witnesses race to help the victim and watch Boyd drive off and then see him pull into a nearby parking lot. Buffett says, "Police get there and find him and his brother who are in the car, basically checking the car out for damages, more worried about the car than this male lying in the road."

Police arrested Boyd for failing to render aid, driving under the influence, driving without a license and without insurance. Boyd's victim later dies at the hospital and he's charged with negligent homicide. But that's not all. Later police used a search warrant and found drugs in his vehicle. Boyd was convicted of all six charges and put on the strict "hope" probation where he has to check in daily with probation officers and submit to drug testing. Police say Boyd failed to do that and is now on the run. He's wanted on a $20,000 dollar felony contempt warrant for probation violation.

Boyd is described as 6'1", weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He doesn't have any tattoos, but he does have a scar on his head. Jesse Boyd is know to hang out in the Kaneohe and central Oahu areas. Helping police find him, could put up to $1,000 bucks in your pocket.
