A few years ago Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer were touted as the future of women's golf, but the 18-year-old from Hawaii has struggled while the 21-year-old creamer has six professional victories and she was red hot in Thursdays opening round of the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Ohio. Creamer birdies nine of her last eleven holes, cards an amazing 11 under par 60. That's just one off the LPGA record. Meanwhile Wie had a respectable round Thursday. On the par five 17th hole. This approach shot just doesn't have enough, it lands short of the green, but check out the chip, a soft touch. That ball will nestle right up next to the pin. A kick-in par for Michelle. She'd have four bogies and five birdies. The last of her birdies comes on the par five 18th. Her ball is above the cup. Maybe 12 to 15 feet away, and Wie goes to red numbers on the final hole of the day. Creamer leads by five strokes after round one. Park and JI are tied for second. Wie is one of 24 golfers tied for 32nd.
