The major league all star game is coming up Tuesday, and Boston's Jason Varitek will be playing for the American league. Hard to believe he made the squad hitting just 2-24. The spot should have gone to Chicago's AJ Pierzynski, but a case could be made for Maui's Kurt Suzuki. Especially after his heroics Thursday night. Suzuki pinch hitting with two down in the bottom of the ninth. He unloads a towering shot to left field. A solo jack for Suzuki that ties the game two to two. His average is 60-points higher than Variteks. So thanks to Suzuki, Oakland and Seattle are tied in the 11th inning when Emil Brown goes yard. A walk off homer. A's dump the M's three to two. |
