Zac Sunderland sailed into the Hawaii Yacht Club Friday morning from Marina Del Rey, California. This is his first of many stops in his quest to circle the planet.

"It was my idea. I bought the boat and made it reality and set off. It's just been a great adventure and more so of an adventure on land I hope," said Zac Sunderland.

"We watched a movie about an around the world race, and he came to us after and said ya know I could do that, and we said ya you could," said Mary Ann Sunderland.

Zac's parents flew here to meet up with him to make sure things have been smooth sailing. The teenager will set sail again in a few days.

His next stop is the Marshal Islands. He hopes to complete his journey in one year.
