Michelle Wie: Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Print E-mail

Michelle Wie flirting with the cut line. She began Friday at one under par at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. The cut line would eventually be set at even, so she had little room for error.

Wie needs this to save par on the 14th hole. Doesn't get it, so she falls to two over on the day. One over for the tournament and just outside the cut line. Then chipping onto the 16th green, Wie almost gets that stroke back. The ball, however, slides just past the cup. She'll have to settle for par.

On the 17th hole, a par five, this is Wie's third shot and remember she needs a birdie to get back on the cut line. This shot will set her up, it's a beauty. Leaves her with just a couple feet for bird. Wie makes the putt and goes on to make the cut, but she's got a long way to go to catch the leader.

Paula Creamer, following up Thursday's 11-under par 60 with a another impressive round Friday. Six under 65 for Creamer, that gives her a two day total of 17 under par. Six strokes ahead of anyone else. Wie is tied for 62nd, it's her fifth LPGA tournament of the year, and the third time she's qualified for weekend play.
