Members from "REAL," a local youth organization that's against the tobacco industry, participated in a three day anti-tobacco summit held this week at University of Hawaii at Manoa. In an effort to display their beliefs, more than 60 teens froze in place for two minutes, on the streets of Waikiki. "A flash mob freeze is a huge statement we use as a self expression activity to get the message out about how the tobacco industry is targetting us. Our theme this year was take a minute and expose the lies of the tobacco industry," said REAL member, Brandon Antonius. The goal of the summit is to teach participants how to use self expression in activism. |
