Some volunteer firefighters in Maryland are feeling the heat after a videotape recorded in 2004 made it into the public eye. On it they're seen committing illegal acts including hazing rookies on the force and lighting firecrackers in the firehouse. One even shot a roman candle out of his backside giving new meaning to the term fire in the hole. Some teens on their way to a church retreat may be a little disappointed to learn that one of the door prizes is off the table: a semi-automatic A-R 15 Rifle. Organizers planned on giving one away at the weekend outing but have changed their minds not because it seemed like a bad idea but because the rifle instructor couldn't make it, that and the losers might find themselves guilty of the 10th commandment and covet thy neighbors accurate, high velocity round, direct gas impingement powered weapon. A man who went to jail to bail out his friend is now behind bars himself. After authorities asked to see the unidentified man's license he fled and a high speed chase ensued. Not only did he have a suspended license but he also had a trunk full of drugs. Police eventually caught up with man after he flipped his vehicle. If stupid were a crime this man would get a life sentence. A Texas woman is suing a high school friend for stealing her name. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but Syvette Wimberly is and adult film star and the real Syvette Wimberly isn't happy about that. The two used to be friends but according to court documents that's no longer the case, gee i wonder why. On an unrelated note I share my name with a professional surfer but if this guy wanted to change his name to Jeff Booth I wouldn't complain. Remember the economic stimulus plan? Right now it's causing growth in at least one sector of the economy. After the first round of checks went out in May, adult entertainment Web sites saw a spike in activity. One poll found 32% of respondents cited the plan as a factor in starting or renewing their memberships. I don't think this is quite the stimulus package the government had in mind but in today's tough economy, it'll take what it can get. |
