Over half a million people visit Kahaluu Bay in Keauhou each year. Today we introduce you to a group making sure the bay is not destroyed in the process. Most of the people on this beach are here for one thing: to see unbelievable sea life up close. This is why the Outrigger Keauhou and the Kohala Center are teaming up to educate visitors about the precious ocean life in Kahaluu Bay. Volunteers from the Kohala Center formed a group called Reef Teach. Every day they set up a tent and educational aides to help people understand the environment they visit. Reef Teach is in its second year. And the volunteers plan to be here well into the future. And not only tourists benefit from Reef Teach. Mahalo to the Kohala Center for all they do to protect our precious ocean life. |
