Hawaii won the WAC last year and of course went to the Sugar Bowl. But the team has suffered major losses on offense. Gone are Heisman finalist Colt Brennan and all four starting receivers. And don't forget that the mastermind of the run-and-shoot offense, head coach June Jones has also left for SMU. The Warriors also have tough conference road games at Fresno State and at Boise State. Both are favorites to win the WAC. Here's a look at the top 5 teams according to the coaches. Fresno State is their choice to win the WAC. They received 7 of 9 first place votes. Boise is second, followed by Nevada, Hawaii and Louisiana Tech. The media, however, believe Boise State will win the conference. Fresno is a close second. Nevada, Hawaii and La Tech again are picked 3rd, 4th and 5th. So what do the Warriors think? "As far us being 4th, I think that's alright, we have a lot of guys we lost and a lot of guys that have never touched the field before. I'm not disgraced or anything like that and the truth will prevail. I think we're gonna win the WAC this year and we're gonna beat up most of these teams they say is going to finish top 3. So for us, it's a slap in the face but you know, we're going to be at the top," said Warrior quarterback Tyler Graunke. The Warriors defense should be a strength this season with preseason defensive player of the year Solomon Elimimian right in the middle of it. The senior middle linebacker has been a starter since his freshman year. His 313 career tackles are the seventh most in WAC history. And Boise State running back Ian Johnson is the preseason offensive player of the year. Also in KGMB9 Sports:
