Today, the Coast Guard and the Navy demonstrated a state-of-the-art underwater exercise. The special RIMPAC exercise shows how this vessel can detect land mines underwater. Crews says the exercise is vital in order to test the incident response between the Coast Guard, Navy and Area Maritime Security Committee. "We had about three days of good experiment here working with the Coast Guard and finding out new things with the underwater vehicles that we've been using and excited for a couple of more days." Now, the exercise will generate information dealing with tactics, techniques and procudures when it comes to mine countermeasure technologies. The exercise will take place over a four-day period. |
