Q1. As you know, the City and County of Honolulu is moving ahead with plans for a rail transit line from East Based on anything you have seen or heard about these plans, would you say you:
Q1a. Why would you say you (SUPPORT/OPPOSE) rail transit? (ALL RESPONSES)

Q1a. Why would you say you OPPOSE rail transit?
Q3. I'm going to read you some statements that some people have made about rail transit. For each, please tell me strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree. The first is:
  a. We need a light rail system in order to reduce traffic congestion and commute times along H-1.
  b. I am very concerned about the visual impact of an elevated rail line.
  c. I am very concerned about the noise that will be generated by the steel wheels on a steel track.
  d. I support rail because, among other reasons, this is our last and best chance to build a rail system for future generations.
  e. The cost of the project is way too great for a city the size of Honolulu.
  f. The money for this project should be spent on other city services such as water, sewer, and waste management.
  g. If we're going to have a rail system, then it must serve Waikīkī, UH Mānoa, and the airport, even though it will cost more.
  h. The groups that oppose rail represent only a small vocal minority.
  i. I support rail because, among other reasons, it will stimulate our economy and provide jobs.
Q4. As you may know, there is an organization collecting signatures in order to get the rail transit issue onto the ballot this November. Do you believe that voters should be able to decide whether or not the City and County of Honolulu moves ahead with rail transit?
Q5. If the elections were held today and the rail transit issue were included on the ballot, would or against, moving ahead with rail transit as currently planned?
