Hawaii hoteliers and resorts are offering an array of kama'aina rates and specials to encourage us to holoholo right here at home. Among them are the two world-class Four Seasons resorts on the private island of Lana'i, from its beach front property at Manele Bay for some sun and fun, to the very different upcountry pine surroundings of The Lodge at Koele. This morning we take you to Manele Bay where "The Challenge" golf course is a big hit.

The Four Seasons Resort Lana`i at Manele Bay, and the Four Seasons Resort, The Lodge at Koele continue to gain accolades and it's world class reputation from travelers and readers of numerous travel, golf and wedding periodicals. Most recently, Conde Nast Traveler readers putting the resorts on its 2008 Gold List: World's Best Places to Stay. Travel + Leisure readers also selecting The Lodge at Koele as its #1 Hawaii resort and ranking it #15 among hotels in the world in its 2008 T + L 500: The Greatest Hotels in the World list.

Lana`i is 98 % owned by Castle & Cooke chairman, David Murdock. He brought in the Four Seasons to manage and rebrand the resorts in 2006 with both properties each undergoing a $50 million renovation to ensure the Four Seasons Resorts seal of high quality that travelers around the world have come to know. And it's all right in our backyard. The Four Seasons Resort Lanai, at Manele Bay and the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele, want to encourage local families to come enjoy the fun and luxury with affordable Kama'aina room rates and discounts on the many hotel activities. We took a 20 minute flight on Island Air direct to Lanai City. Mokulele and Pacific Wings also offer flights to Lana'i, or you can take a ferry ride to Lana'i from Maui.

Visitors to the properties can enjoy an array of activities from a round of golf on two world-class golf courses, to horseback riding, sporting clay shooting, archery, snorkeling, hiking, beachgoing activities and much more. Visitors are also encouraged to take a 4x4 drive around the island with numerous cultural sites to visit, with additional shopping and dining in nearby Lana`i City.

Four Seasons Resorts Lana`i just released its Kama`aina offer for summer travel that includes discounted room rates (Four Seasons Resort Lanai`i, The Lodge at Koele at $229 and Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay at $269 per night), golf rates of $85 per round, plus a $50 dinner credit per night.
