Practice began at a semi-sweltering 10 AM Monday and ran till noon. One of the glaring questions was, "who is that at quarterback?" Absent was last years top backup Tyler Graunke, who is being withheld from team activities until he clears up some personal matters, and in his place was Spring practice favorite Inoke Funaki who now enters camp as the clear cut number one QB, but he hasn't let that get to his head. Funaki spent his time Monday getting his rhythm, and the rhythm of his fellow QBs in order. "Ever since we came in I've been trying to help, because i appreciate the help that I got from the guys, who were in front of me, and i think we help to build the program, kinda like what coach Mac says, it's not about me it's about me," said Inoke Funaki. "I think for the first practice it was really good, I watched with interest the quarterbacks and the receivers, the ball was thrown good, the receivers were catching the football, I think we're ahead of where we thought we'd be," said Greg Mcmackin. Quarterback's weren't the only new look, under a bright, sweltering sun, the entire Warrior team was in constant motion during drills and in "sudden change runs", which basically means that at the drop of a dime everyone starts running, Coach Mac says it's to get Hawaii ready for the humid conditions in Florida. |
