Sure they love what they do riding waves and catching barrels. But travelling around the world can take a serious toll on your wallet. Luckily there is great pride in our surf community.

This week there's a big fundraiser to help Wawaii's wahine go out and represent the state.

E & O Trading Company Restaurant in Ward Center, third level next to Compadres, will host a fundraiser for the surfers on Friday, August 8, 10pm. There will be live music, a surfboard give-a-way from Brett Surfboards Hawaii, fashion show by Hula-la and prizes galore. Proceeds will go to run the contest and to the Friends of Kewalo Park Organization. Their mission is to protect Kewalo Park Basin to ensure access to the area for future generations.

This year Girls Who Surf teamed up with the Association of Surfing Professionals and Banzai Productions to host an all Womens Pro-Am contest with $5,000.00 in cash and prizes.
