Contractors working on a Mililani townhouse found themselves caught in the middle of a house fire today. Fire officials say plumbers were working on renovations when sparks ignited the dry wall.
The fire spread from the downstairs kitchen and moved to the upstairs bedroom. Some neighbors noticed the blaze and yelled for other to evacuate.
"I was cooking my lunch and I started noticing smoke, white greyish smoke coming out of the walls and I checked the vent and it was coming out of the grease vent so I started banging on the walls yelling fire, fire fire," said neighbor Michael Hart.
"I was really scared, I was worried about my cat. I was hoping that everyone was alright," Katie Ozawa said.
The unit next door sustained water and minor smoke damage. Fortunately no one was injured. |
