A Maori group based in London made a trip to Hawaii this week. We introduce you to Ngati Ranana.
"It's a family where people seek out other people because when you leave Aotearoa, and you arrive in London, it's quite daunting," Esther Kerr Jessop said.
"The family that we have, these guys are my family away from home. They all mean so much to me and i'll miss them when I go back to New Zealand," Mihirangi Hollings said.
"It's great that we can come together from all parts of Aotearoa, all parts of the world. We do kapa haka and we celebrate our Maori taonga and that's the most beautiful thing to be able to do so far away from home," Jordan Young said.
"We're there to uphold the mana of the iwi of the people of Aotearoa," Bruce Simpson said.
Mahalo nui Ngati Ranana for your dedication to maintaing your Maori culture and traditions. |
