Marshall Love-Boltz, 73, is charged with assault. He is accused of shoving a palace worker against the gate during the altercation. Love is talking about the incident for the first time Tuesday night and claims he was actually the one assaulted. "She hit me in the face, she was coming down like that running from the gate, hitting me in the face and when i went down she was kicking me in the ribs," Love said. On Tuesday, police, the mayor and the state met to talk about their response to the incident. Honolulu's police chief says no one was arrested for nearly three hours after the 9-1-1 calls because they were not expecting the protestors to break into the palace. As for reports that a sergeant on the scene refused to help because it wasn't his jurisdiction, the state and city say that will not happen again. "We're trying to get this thing resolved as soon as possible 'cause we wanna make sure that the community has faith in our integrity," said Police Chief Correa. "There are no jurisdictional lines. If a citizen is indeed is in trouble, in harms way, and calls 911, the Honolulu Police Dept. will respond. It doesn't matter what property it occurs on. It is important for people to know that," Mayor Hannemann said. The self proclaimed Queen Akahi Wahine was one of six charged with burglary. Her husband was released for medical reasons but could still be charged later. |
