Home video shows brush around the site in flames. This comes as investigators reveal some of the details they learned about the tragedy. A valve was reported as overheating under the cockpit. However, it was quickly fixed and the valve is not a piece of equipment deemed necessary for take off. It was during the second take off, that witnesses report seeing the left engine erupt in flames. The plane is an MD-82. The airlines announced Thursday that an MD-82 was forced to make an emergency landing Saturday when both engines failed. It touched down on the same island that the crashed plane was heading toward. Spanair does not know if the plane involved in Saturday's incident is the same plane that went down yesterday. So far, 25 of the 153 victims have been identified. Many are burned beyond recognition. Spain is recognizing 3 days of mourning for the worst air disaster there in 25 years. |
