His 240 point win is the largest margin of victory in the event since 1972. Clay is also the first American man to win the Olympic decathlon since Dan O'Brien in 1996. Clay had to settle for silver in the 2004 games in Athens. The decathlon is a grueling 2-day, 10 event discipline.
