It's set for Sept. 29th at 9:30 a.m. at the Hawaii Convention Center. Meanwhile, three republican senators held a press conference Friday, calling for Johnson's resignation. Senators Gordon Trimble, Sam Slom and Fred Hemmings say Johnson acted irresponsibly and should step down immediately. The CEO of the HTA allegedly sent racist, sexist and pornographic emails using his work computer. Johnson left for Japan this morning to represent Hawaii as HTA's Ambassador of Aloha. "I think that it's outrageous that he's going to Japan and leading a delegation of tourism officials," said Sen. Gordon Trimble, who represents Waikiki, Kakaako and Downtown. "It is inappropriate that he's there and I think that the Hawaii Tourism Authority board of directors, if they don't have a problem with this, they should submit their letters of resignation as well." Earlier Friday, the head of the NAACP in Hawaii as well as several other community activist organizations also called for Johnson's resignation. |
