There are 339 polling places statewide and 211 on Oahu. Other than the slow start at those four polling sites there weren't too many problems. This is the first Hawaii election for new chief officer Kevin Cronin and so far things are going pretty smoothly. "Getting those four polling places up and running was the biggest challenge," said State Office of Elections Chief Kevin Cronin. "Given that small number..we think as a matter of administration, the opening of the polls went very well today." Mailed in absentee ballots were the first ballots to be tabulated at the State Capitol. The Office of Elections said those absentee voters have so far followed direction in filling in the entire square box and not just marking an X in the box. |
