On the Big Island, Harry Kim has reached his term limit leaving the race wide open.

We go to Brooks Baehr live in Hilo with that.

There are eight candidates vying for the office of mayor here on the Big Island.

Four of those candidates are expected to get the lion's share of votes.

We asked each of those candidates why they are the best person for the job.

"I'm the only candidate in the race that has worked in Washington, D.C. I'm the only candidate who has worked in all three branches of government, so I bring that to them," said mayoral candidate Billy Kenoi.

"I believe I'm the best candidate, having been mayor before, a former council person as a county planning commissioner and a state senator for 10 years," said candidate Lorraine Inouye.

"I was chair of the council, so I have leadership skills, I revamped the council hierarchy system in Hilo. I think that type of experience, really crunching the numbers in the budget, that's going to set me apart," said candidate Stacy Higa.

"I'm a strong candidate for clean and open government, everything else starts from there. Clean, open and transparent government," said candidate Angel Pilago.
